Robert and Emily pt 2

Emily developed additional tumors, requiring additional surgeries and lost work. They needed help to pay the bills that were usually covered by Emily's income for a couple more months.

The Krewe supported them with an additional $4,000 to cover their bills during Emily's prolonged recovery time.

Robert and Emily are members of the pirate community and well known among the krewes in and around St. Augustine.  Emily developed a very aggressive form of breast cancer.  Her treatments kept her from working for several months.   Medical expenses grew while their income was cut short, they cut back where they could and they raised some money with other charity efforts, but still were short the funds to cove the insurance deductibles for her continued treatment.

The medical emergency necessitated Angela's FMLA leave of absence.  She did share the details of the emergency with the Krewe, but out of respect for their privacy, we will not share the details.

Angela is a single mom with a teenage daughter. Angela needed to leave work on FMLA due to a family emergency. She needed help with one months bills. She tried more than 30 churches in the area and was turned away.

The medical emergency necessitated Angela's FMLA leave of absence. She did share the details of the emergency with the Krewe, but out of respect for their privacy, we will not share the details.

The Krewe was able to pay their monthly bills and several months of doctor visits for a total of $6,378.

Additionally, the Krewe also voted to give them with a Walmart gift card to help with Christmas, and a gift card for a local nail salon to help the young ladies take their minds off their troubles for a while.

Angela told us repeatedly that they were blessed to have found our help and that we helped change their lives at time when it was most needed. Mother and daughter are doing well.

Joseph had previously had a traumatic brain injury from car vs bicycle accident, was unable to speak and now battling cancer.  He lives on his small boat that takes on water rapidly enough that he must bail the water by hand as the bilge pump had failed.  He frequently misses his cancer treatments for fear the boat will sink.

The Krewe was able to supply Joseph with a new bilge pump and $500 Walmart gift card to help with basic necessities for the coming winter.

Patricia has a job and is barely able to make ends meet, living in a rented rundown RV with mold everywhere.

She is trying to move into a decent apartment but cannot scrape together the move in expenses.

The Krewe paid over $6,000 to cover first month's expenses of application fee, first and last month's rent, and security deposits for the apartment and utilities, enabling Patricia and her daughter to move into a safe and decent apartment.

Hailey was forced to leave her job when her abusive ex tracked her down through her employer.  While looking for a new job became behind in her rent and water.

The Krewe provided $1,935 to cover the current month's water and rent to help her avoid eviction.

Her husband suffered from mental illness and took his life, leaving her to raise four children on her own.  They have a tree service that was their sole means of income and mostly operated by him.  LeAnn has been trying to keep up the business, but without her husband it has been impossible to keep up with workload and has had to pass on many jobs.  As a result, she became several months behind on most bills.

She has been able to find reliable help to regain some of the lost business, but needs help to get current on the bills to make the business stable again to support her family.

The Krewe assisted by providing $8,600 toward the past due bills and food. This funding covered: Work Truck Payments - $2,073.00; Electric - $1140; Grocery’s - $1,800.00; Phone - $825.00; Liability Insurance - $2,762.

With the Krewe's help and the income from the family business, LeAnne was able to get current on her bills, rebuild the business, and support her family on her own again.

Joey was riding his motorcycle a dip in the road caused the front wheel to grab and forced him to lay the bike down.  He sustained a fracture to his left clavicle. Due to his job as a bartender and server, the injury prohibits him from working. The doctor told him he cannot work for a least 8 to 10 weeks, possibly more depending on recovery. His left arm is immobilized and prevents him from working.

His left arm is immobilized and prevents him from working.

The Krewe provided funds in the amount of $3,633. This funding will cover the following for three months while he recovers from his injury: Rent - $700.00 Water - $30.00 Electric - $50.00 Car insurance - $50.00 Grocery’s - $200.00 Phone/internet -$131.00.
Additionally, the Krewe approved an extra month support in the amount of $1,161, if necessary for recovery.

The family's van's transmission died and this is their only vehicle. They both work full time and they have no other mode of transportation. Mother, father, and daughter also have many doctors appointments that they cannot get to without the van.  MrJudes also drives their daughter to school.

The Krewe provided assistance to the Judes family in the amount of $5230.16 to pay for the following- $3,000 up-front to replace transmission with a 3-year full warranty- $2,200 to cover the labor to replace the transmission- $30.16 in taxes. All funds paid directly to the provider.

When Jason was unable to work  and forced into retirement due to his illness and injuries acquired in the line of duty as a fireman, Stacy became his caretaker.  She eventually had to leave her job as Jason's care needs became fulltime.

Now the copays for the physical therapy Jason requires and the copays for Stacy's surgeries is more than they can manage, and is a constant stress that is starting to effect Stacy's health as well.

Jason was a firefighter in St. John's County and is now suffering from on-the-job related medical effects. His wife Stacy has been his full-time caretaker and now requires two surgeries before she can return to work.

When Jason was unable to work and forced into retirement due to his illness and injuries acquired in the line of duty as a fireman, Stacy became his caretaker. She eventually had to leave her job as Jason's care needs became fulltime.

Now the copays for the physical therapy Jason requires and the copays for Stacy's surgeries is more than they can manage, and is a constant stress that is starting to effect Stacy's health as well.

The Krewe provided funds for one month's mortgage, 50 physical therapy sessions, the copays for both surgeries, and six months medical insurance for a total of $13,577.66.
