Is anyone interested in going that evening? They are willing to set up a table for us to promote our Krewe. They just need to know by EOD Friday as they will be putting together a press release. See previous post with the details.

In Rachael Miller
This is the situation from my discussions with Rachel Miller. She was a Registered nurse at Flagler Hospital diagnosed with Malignant Neoplasm of her right breast. This is a deadly disease if now treated aggressively. She is getting TCHP chemotherapy which will last until November 2023. She had to resign as she unable to work while undergoing medical treatment which includes surgery. She was ineligible for FMLA or STD due to that she was not a full-time employee working 40 hours at the time of diagnosis. She is asking for help with paying her Mortgage, Car payment and BCBS Health Insurance premium through May. She will be undergoing surgery (February) this month but expects to be able to return to working sometime in May. She is simply asking for financial assistance while she recovers from the surgery but expects to be able to continue to be able to work while she completes the Chemotherapy which ends in November. She is a single parent with a daughter. She is partially behind on her January Mortgage payment because she was forced to resign as a Registered Nurse at Flagler Hospital and paid what she could. Rachael Miller is someone that Mark Bailey who is a sponsor of our krewe brought to our attention to see if we could assist. Based on my findings it is my opinion that this does fit the definition of helping local families in dire need through no fault of their own. Mates, I am making one modification to my proposal by adding Motion B since it is very likely she will have fully recovered from the surgery by May and may not need the additional financial help from us. My understanding is typical recovery time from breast cancer surgery that she is having is 6-8 weeks (sometimes longer if there are any complications). I know from speaking to her she was very grateful for any financial help we might be able to provide her and her daughter! -The River Pirate 13 (aka Jason Gillette) PROPOSED MOTION A: To assist Rachael Miller as follows: 3 months of car payments $1,654.26 Feb thru April $551.42 x 3 3 months of medical insurance payments $1,211.34 Feb thru April $403.78 x 3 3 Months Mortgage payments $6,752.64 Feb thru April $2205.68 x 3 January past due Mortgage payment balance $2,000.00 Total Expenditure not to exceed $11,618.24 Funds to be paid directly to the service provider. PROPOSED MOTION B: To approve additional support for Rachel Miller as follows: 1 month of car payment (May 2023) $551.42 1 month of medical insurance payment (May 2023) $403.78 1 month of Mortgage payment (May 2023) $2,205.68 Total Expenditure not to exceed $3,206.08 Funds to be paid directly to the service provider. These motions will be discussed / amended until 2/5/2023, at which time the question will be called.
