Ahoy Maties! Being that the booze pull was very successful last year at the Casino Night, it would be gratefully appreciated if every pirate would donate a bottle or two this year. Please feel free to contact me for drop off or pick up instructions. A suggestion: those going to the Feb social could bring your donation to the bowling ally for collection. Our goal is to collect 52 bottles total . Thank you all in advance 🏴‍☠️

Is anyone aware whether or not you can buy tickets at the door to this event tonight?

I am proposing a motion to financially assist Ashley Milus. For a recap: She is the 26 year old young lady with breast cancer that I met last month. She has a sweet five year old son. She is applying for customer service phone jobs that are flexible so she can work, which she is very anxious to do. When she completes her treatment and surgery, she will resume her job as a make up artist here in the tri-county area. At my suggestion she contacted CareConnect who is working with Mayo Clinic to help cover her medical bill with them. She needs a car and insurance to go to her treatments, doctor’s appointments, to transport her son to and from school. Without question, Ashley needs phone for emergencies. Her entire apartment contents are in storage while she is at her Mother’s home. Without our help, Ashley will have her car repossessed, her phone shut off, and all possessions forfeited. All this worry on top of finishing up her chemo treatments and a enduring a double mastectomy is to me, a dire need. She is one of our very own from Palm Coast. Ashley’s needs are: Breakdown: $2818.54 past due car payment plus 2 additional months $431.86 past due phone bill plus 2 additional months $726.72 for 3 months car insurance $368.70 for 3 months storage Total requested : $ 4,345.82 Thank you all for considering Ashley’s needs, I’d like to take this to a vote by tomorrow night (February 7, 2023) as her car is about to be repossessed…

I would like to update you all on Ashley Milius. I met her in person, to which I must say, is a lovely, talented, intelligent and upbeat young woman who turned 26 last week. She is a loving single mother to a sweet five year old boy. She graduated from Flagler Beach High School. Her parents and siblings live here in Palm Coast and have all been physical and spiritual blessings to her. Ashley was very active in High School as a Thespian . She won first place (“Supreme”) at a state competition in Orlando in a performance representing FBHS. She was also the chief choreographer for the school’s production of “Hairspray” as well as a member of FBHS Dance Team. She moved to Atlanta approximately three years ago to be near her sister and she had hope that there were better opportunities for work in her chosen field. She has entrepreneurial aspirations and was working as a makeup artist in Atlanta before her diagnosis. She realizes that living back home in Palm Coast is the better choice to be near family and to raise her young son here. She is looking forward to feeling better and getting back out into the workforce. Fortunately, she moved in with her parents so there is no need for help in housing. They help her with childcare when they aren’t at their jobs. Unfortunately they can’t fully aid her financially. I am working with her in several areas such as optimizing her nutrition, and researching various avenues for aid. Next I will review her various treatments and chemo protocol. So far she has had 3 months of chemo and has 3-4 more to go plus possible radiation before her double mastectomy. She’s lost her hair but is not overly self conscious. She is upbeat, strong and positive. She has no family history of cancer (and after my research, her type of cancer is usually from exposure to high radiation levels as a couple of cases have been found in Japan… re: A Bomb). As for her dire needs: #1-She has lapsed in her car insurance payments due to lack of funds and work, yet she needs to drive to her treatments and doctors appointments as well as drive her son to and from school. This is serious as I found this information per Fl law: Driving without car insurance in Florida can end up costing you a lot more than your monthly insurance bill. If you fail to provide proof of insurance, then your license, plates, and registration will be suspended for up to three years; you'll have to pay a fine to get reinstated. Any subsequent lapses in coverage carry harsher penalties. You can be sued for the costs of serious injuries that you cause as a result of a vehicle accident. #2-She has a balance with The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. #3- Her life-line (cell phone) was shut off for a while due to lack of funds to pay her bill. (As to why her and I we unable to connect for a couple of weeks). At my suggestion, at present she is now seeking quotes from other auto insurance companies as well as waiting to hear from Care Connect. I will have more accurate info on her financial need once she forwards me copies of her bills etc. I have a soft spot in my heart, especially for young people that are fighting this horrible disease. I truly believe we can make a difference in this young lady’s life as well as in her healing journey, by lessening her burden of stress with our financial help. Sincerely- Patt

I recently spoke to a member of the band Chillula (a fantastic local band, that play many genres of dance music) . I asked what their cost would be for hire and he said they play for a max of four hours for $1200. I have no idea if this was reasonable but thought I’d let you all know in case we have an event that needs great music. They are playing publicly at The Colonial Oak from 7-10 pm on the evening of our August social. (August 13).
