What about starting at the top/bottom of the core members and assign in alphabetical order as someone needs help. It's a rewarding task and everybody should have a turn.

I'm in agreement with you Erin, they didn't make bad choices to get in this situation. I'm a softie and will vote to help them with house payment and car, I just can't get behind escrow.

I took Phyllis' suggestion and asked that the original request be amended. Having a friend go through this exact situation (he was back to work in 4 weeks), plus having dealt with a similar situation recently, I definitely feel for this family. The emotional strain is overwhelming at times, and a helping hand helps to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm normally a softie for helping everybody but I'm having a problem getting behind this one. My problem is, I don't see a "dire" need here. They aren't about to be evicted, they aren't behind on their utility payments, they haven't missed a car payment, etc. So where does "dire" come into this situation? Will it make their situation easier, definitely. So maybe that's all that's needed to help out with house and car payment. What I definitely can't get behind is the escrow. Escrow doesn't qualify as "dire" no matter how you spin it. It's a shame their mortgage/bank messed up their escrow and I have "sympathy" for the mess, but no matter how you attempt to look at it, escrow is not a "dire" need. Anybody else feel this way?

Normally the bank/morgage holder notifies you immediately. Something seems fishey here and definitely needs an explanation. Question 2 - Can escrow be removed from assistance they are asking for? Question 3 - why did wife quit job to "care" for husband? Some of our Krewe members underwent similar treatment and continued to work and take care of themselves without their spouse quitting their job. Question 4 - what is going on with the money they raised from the "existing" fundraisers? To many unanswered questions to ask for this amount of money IMHO.

Something seems to be missing from this story. Why are both adults quitting work? Seems to me, now is the time to work all the overtime you can. Have they asked for help anywhere else? Do they have family that can help? They say they don't know what is actually needed, but they are asking for everything to be covered. Don't they have any savings? Are we being asked to pay their bills so they can pay for fertility treatments? Hummmmm

Thank you Tortuga. This one has caused me a few sleepless nights.

Latest information from Carissa. Her chest was hurting, and she went to the ER. Turns out to be stress related. While at ER she was told she was pregnant. Is this true, I don't know.

I think this time Carissa need help, but she has kept so much information from us. When some information comes up about Carissa, I call her up and ask. Carissa will admit it, give me a story and send paperwork if needed, but she's not forthcoming about anything else. This has happened one too many times for my comfort. The latest is that her current husband isn't the one who the "no contact" order is for, it's for her ex. That being the case, her current husband should be home and if he's not home helping his family, where is he?

Krewe - new items have come to light. I realize Carissa is a victim of domestic violence and truly wanted to help her. But at this time, I can no longer give her my support. I feel we can help somebody more deserving.

Carissa went out and found a job, food stamps, DV shelter and assistance and child care through Palm Coast. Carissa even arranged to get a ride with a co worker until her truck works. Carissa can make ends meet if May and June rent and utilities are paid (previously paid by her abusive husband).

Krewe - I truly believe that Carissa needs our help right now and is sincere about turning her life around. Her background check has come back and there's not much more than Carissa's told us. We know Carissa was a bad girl in the early 20's, was caught in 2020, and has paid for her previous actions. We also know that Carissa has stayed out of trouble since then. Is she reformed, I don't think any of us know the answer to that, not even Carissa. What can't be denied is that while Carissa was working hard to turn her life around, she became the victim of Domestic Violence. Her abuser was her husband and family provider. He was removed from the household by the police, jailed, made bail and has an order against him of No Contact. We also know that Carissa immediately found a job, looked into public assistance and looked into DV shelters (they can't get her the help she needs in time). We have done background checking on Carissa and her landlord and believe this is the whole story. We also know that Carissa, her 2 children, Briella 3 and Jordan 12 will be without water and electricity by this Friday and homeless shortly afterwards. Carissa made a mistake, let's help her move forward in her life, not backwards. This boils down to one question, will the Krewe give the victim of Domestic Violence a second chance?
