Wondering if someone ever replies to the messages that come into the Krewe FB page? I don't ever see a response, which leads me to believe the answer is NO. There was a message of a videographer (sp) who would like to film AHE and a message just came in of a group of 13 (9 adults 3 kids) wanting information on something, I'm guessing AHE.

I saw the FB post about the shirts for the Rum Cruise. Will the Krewe do the same color or somehow add Krewe of the 13 on it somehow to show unity?

Good morning Swabbies, Despite the weather prediction the St. Patrick's Day Parade will go on so wear waterproof, comfortable shoes. We are in an early step-off position, which puts us closer to the beginning. I believe our form-up area is near the school board building, which if you are coming from Ann O'Malley's is a little past the wax museum. I know Ann's will open at 8 and will be serving breakfast sandwiches, bloody marys, mimosas, and of course coffee. Hopefully you also saw there will be a second photoshoot on Sunday, April 24. This will be an evening shoot. starting at 7:00 PM. Tracey suggested maybe the Swabbies could provide refreshments/snacks. Another suggestion is if someone who lives close to that area wants to host a Krewe Social on the same day, either before or after. As swabbies, you are not required to do this but it certainly shows enthusiasm. I'm putting this out now so you can hopefully chat about it on Saturday. These e-mails are blind copied so your swabbie mates will not see your response. Let me know if you need contact information for each other and are willing to share your information, and I will make connections. A quick look at the Captain's Accord Calendar shows events that other Krewes have planned through early June Sat Apr 2 2022, 1:00pm - 3:00pm Garb Swap Where: The Willie Galimore Center, 399 Riberia St, Saint Augustine, FL 32084 What: Garb Swap/Sale for Pirates, Mermaids, Gypsies, Dancers, Steampunk, Cosplay clothes and accessories. This is for both ladies and gentlemen to swap or sell their items. Free entrance to Galimore Center. If you want to swap/sell your items, the cost is $5 for one table and 2 chairs. The $5 is to help pay for the Galimore Center rental and any funds raised over the rental cost will go to a local community charity. Contact Angelina Josephina on FB Messenger to reserve your table and chairs for this event. ----- Sat Apr 16 2022, 8:00am - 12:00pm St. Augustine Easter Parade (I believe we usually participate) MTF ----- Sun May 1 2022, 1:00pm - 4:00pm Murder Among the Mateys Mystery Dinner Show (Charity Events) Who: Seawolf Privateers (this is a new Krewe) Where: Social Club of Palm Coast, 51 Old Kings Rd N, Palm Coast, FL 32137 What: Fundraiser to support local children here in our community. Here are a few reminders of who we are and what we do. Krewe of the 13, Inc is a 501(c)(3) public registered charity. We raise money to help local families who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in dire need. We try to help when we are able to change the outcome of a temporary situation. And the fun part is we get to do it dressed like pirates or women of the Golden Age of Piracy. Garb requirements The Krewe of the 13 is a reenactment krewe from the Golden Age of Piracy (1690-1720). We dress in pirate garb for most of the things we do. If you need inspiration, you should watch or google images of the Starz show Black Sails or The Golden Age of Piracy. All levels of era (1690-1720) appropriate garb are welcome and encouraged. If you want to dress like a swabbie (deckhand), feel free. If you want to look more like a pirate captain or an affluent woman, that is OK too. If you are a woman and want to wear male garb, no problem it happened a lot during the Golden Age of Piracy. If you are male and want to dress in female garb, no problem (although not necessarily appropriate to the era). You are not required to buy expensive clothing or accessories. However, costume attire is not permitted. Steampunk type garb did not exist during the Golden Age of Piracy and is therefore not appropriate. As long as you make a reasonable attempt to dress in 1690-1720s period-appropriate clothing you will fit in. There are two types of krewe members: Benefactor – this is a non-voting member. A benefactor may not have the time or desire to actively participate and contribute to the management of the Krewe but is able to make a monetary contribution. Consequently, the benefactor will pay higher dues. This member is not required to participate but is encouraged and welcome to join any Krewe events and socials. Core – this is a voting member. To become and remain a core member you must show active participation and enthusiasm for the Krewe and its mission. You will be asked to participate in fundraising activities and charity events. Most of you who are Swabbies have completed three of the nine months requirement. Some of you have been very active and involved in Krewe events and have met many members of the Krewe. You are definitely on your way to being voted in as full members after nine months. A couple of you have made small contributions. If it is your intention to be a core member you will need to show more involvement. If you have been helping the Krewe in some way that I am not aware of, please let me know so I can share this with the core members and help ensure you receive proper recognition come voting time. Remember, if you would like to be a core member you must participate in activities (Socials do not count). It is imperative you check the Krewe forum regularly to see if an event has come up. Quite often (very often!) an opportunity arises on very short notice and I will not be able to get an e-mail out. As a round table krewe, it is important for you to watch the forum, respond when members are solicited for input, and then participate if there is an event. While a Swabbie, this is also a great way to get a feel for how the Krewe of the 13 works and whether it truly is a good fit for you. If you are a potential Swabbie you are also encouraged to participate as often as possible. If you hear about an event feel free to participate. I will do my best to give adequate notice, but it doesn't always happen so reach out to other Krewe members. Once you are voted in as a Swabbie, you too will be able to track activities through the forum. All core members are asked to contribute to the function of the Krewe. If you have a special skill that can be used during an event, let me know and I will share it with the core members. If you want to contribute using particular skills from your professional life, that will be great. If you are only able to really help by doing set-up or break-down during our Krewe fundraisers, well there is a need there too. Bottom line, be involved, show enthusiasm, and have fun while you do it!! I hope we'll see you Saturday in your best pirate garb!! Remember, if you have a Swabbie armband it should be worn whenever you are in garb. Looking ahead January - I believe some members of the Krewe will be attending the Hogtown Medieval Faire in Gainesville. This will be a grabbed activity but not necessarily an official Krewe event. I will verify the date they plan to attend. The Faire runs JAN 15-16 (9:30-5); JAN 22-23 (9:30-5); JAN 28 (9-4 Family Friday); and JAN 29-30 (9:30-5). Feel free to go on your own if you'd like. February Krewe Social - The Order of Levithian Grand Induction weekend is 25-27 FEB. Krewe of the 13 is heavily involved in many of the activities throughout the weekend. We hope you'll be able to join us during some of the events. Captain Proper Roger and Captain Skar (Scott) will be inducted that weekend and there will be a Pirate Ball on 26 FEB. If you have not purchased your ticket it may be too late. Feel free to check https://ool-induction.eventbrite.com. There will be many other activities that weekend. March - Krewe semi-annual fundraiser. Casino Night This event requires all-hands participation from core members and Swabbies are highly encouraged to assist in whatever way you can. Cutthroat Kathy is in charge so check the forum or let me know if you'd like to assist. I am always here to assist and answer questions so please feel free to reach out. If your circumstances have changed and you want to change your membership status please let me know. If you have changed your mind and no longer wish to join Krewe of the 13 please let me know and I will remove you from these messages. I hope to see you Saturday. Tortuga (aka Lisa)
