Crewmates, I have spoken to Joey, and he is in high spirits. I know that many of us have had interactions with this young man at Ann O’ Malley’s. He is well-spoken and pleasant. He has hit a hard time due to his shoulder that must be completely immobilized as the break needs to mend. His accident was on April 12 and has been good up to this point, however he is now behind on his bills and when he filled out the application shown above, He tried to get everything on there.   I was just double checking the numbers and realized there was one or two things he missed. I am going to list them out below monthly numbers.   Rent - $700.00 Water - $30.00 Electric - $50.00 Car insurance - $50.00 Grocery’s - $200.00 Phone/internet -$131.00.   Total Monthly- $1161.00 He also has one more Dr appointment on May 29, with self-pay of $150.00. Thank you for his direct contact information, I have sent him my apology this evening and hope we can now get past this. Will, The last time at City Gate I got ill while doing a tasting. This was due to mixing too many types of alcohol that day. I am sorry that I got sick it was inexcusable. At the time of the incident, I did offer an apology to the staff and offered to clean up the mess. In will in the future continue to support the City Gate and continue to recommend people that to try your whares. I again am truly sorry of my actions on the 12th of August when this all took place. I hope that we can get past this one incident.

The incident happened the second week of August it was only brought to my attention the day before I made this post. I did apologize at the time of the incident as stated in the original post.

I have made several attempts to get their general manager’s contact information. I have called and emailed their general box. As well as filled out the contact information via their website. I have not received any response from them via text, phone, email, or contact page on their website. I fully intend next time I’m in town to go in and formally apologize in person and hand them a written apology as well.

Krewe: Based on the positive responses, and suggestion that we extend the period of support, the following is a draft of the motion for comment: To approve support for Janette Halpin and daughter for not more than 6 months: Cost per quarter are: · Quarterly Tricare COBRA insurance premium x 1 = $1,654.00 · Dr. Appointment Copay for various appointments up to x 34 = $410.00 · Medications Copay 90-day supply x 5 = $25.00 Total $2089 Maximum total assistance (2 quarters) = $4,178.00 Assistance will be terminated at 6 months, or upon receipt of SSA payments, whichever is sooner. Payments to be made directly to the provider upon receipt of invoice.

This will cover her quarterly Tricare cobra premium, the necessary scheduled Dr. appointments copay's, and the refills of 90 days of medications. We can only assume that this will be enough time for SSA to reply to the latest injunction and cut the checks. However there no guarantee, they have been waiting since April when she was approved for benefits and backpay. Also keeping in mind there is an Attorney and Judge involved working to resolve this issue with SSA on there behalf.

Total being asked for is $2,089. That covers the Tricare Cobra $25 medication cost and $410 for the physician's copays. It will "fix" the problem once the SSA cuts the check for her backpay. Going forward between Juliette's monthly payment, backpay, and enrollment in Medicare the family will be out of trouble and be able to afford her healthcare going forward.

They have been advised not to apply to Medicaid, by the Judge who is working on this case, Because she has been approved for Medicare immediately upon receipt of back pay. and that applying for Medicaid would impede the progress even further. Once they start receive the Medicare card they can shop for an affordable Medicare supplement insurance that will offer sufficient coverage going forward at much more manageable rate.

Krewe of the 13 I am sponsoring this application as I have known this family for 13 years. I met them threw mutual friends when I moved back to Florida over 13 years ago. I am here to state I can verify everything they have been through. From Juliette getting surgery for blood clots in her legs. I was able to visit her in the hospital. I was there when Jannette got married to her husband who she lost a mere 2 days before hurricane Irma. Then when hurricane hit, they had to leave there home at the wee hours of the morning due to the water rising they manage to get out but left one of there cats behind there is a picture of some good men taking Jannette back to her home in a john boat to get her cat that was hiding on a shelf in the closet. I offered up my home to them they stayed here for 3 weeks while they looked for a new home. I helped them recover what we could from the house that had flooded and dry it out. She never asked for help, when someone showed up with supplies there was a lot of items, she could not use she recommended that we take any of the items to the American Legion in Jacksonville beach. The media got a hold of the story, and donations started pouring in. We spent the next 6 hours unloading and sorting vehicles of donations to help people affected by Irma. A few years ago, back in 2018 I tore my ACL for the second time, I needed surgery I have no blood family here in Florida to lean on. So, in January of 2019 I had my ACL replaced again, Jannette and her daughter took me to the surgery center and brought me home after stayed with me for a week putting their lives on hold. To help me recover. You might ask, why are you sharing this information. I am doing this to show you the caliber of the people that we can and should help. This woman has had life hand her some major blows. And in all the time I have know her she has always been able to figure out how to make it work. This is the first time she has hit the wall so hard that without the donation they might not be able to recover. And it could jeopardize the life of a kind and caring person who I watched grow up from a young lady to a strong caring woman. So it is with great hope, I humbly ask that we (Krewe of the 13) help this family pay for this Tricare Cobra enrollment fee and a cover the medications deductibles.
