Last night several members of the Krewe attended Rodie's Place, one of our Corporate Members, Fall Catering Menue Tasting Event. Part of the ticket sales were donated to the Krewe. Not only did we enjoy some great food but Rodie's donated $450.00 to our coffers! Thank you Randy Odom and Tammy Kelly for supporting our mission in helping familes in dire need due to no fault of their own. We apprecite all you do!! See everyone tomorrow night a AHE! We have another shout out on a job well done, Rachelle Caldwell!! Rachelle requested the Corporate Member presentation to give to one of her clients. Rachelle and I are both excited to announce that Dean Franks, MD Franks, LLC, Tampa FL will be donating a $1,000 to the Krewe! MD Franks, LLC will become our 4th Corporate Member in 2023! We should expect to receive the monies later this year. It was either he would give us $500 now or if we could wait until year end he would donate a $1,000, guess which one we picked!😉 Rachelle, thank you carrying the message about the Krewe all the way to Tampa! Sorry for the short notice but looking for about 4 to 5 lady Krewe members to help me with a Krewe Sponsor table at the Bold Ladies Pilates in the Park event. This is the organization that is sponsoring the cruise in April 2024 and have chosen the Krewe as their charity for funds raised from the cruise. This is an opportunity to help support the Bold Ladies and to showcase the Krewe of the 13 at the event. The Bold Ladies have over 100+ women who either own their own business or is a leader within their organization. There is a no cost to the Krewe for the booth, I covered the cost which was minimal. I'll bring the tent, table along with Krewe marketing materiel. The AHE poster will be displayed! Volunteers needed: 1. 2:30 - 3:30 - Set up - need 2 or 3 volunteers (I'll be 1 of the volunteers) 2. 4:00 - 8:00 - Event - need 4 to 5 volunteers to stay at the booth promoting the Krewe, explaining our mission, etc. I'll have a treasure chest for donations and AHE Event Sponsor forms along with a form to track interest in becoming a corporate member or annual sponsor. Want to give a huge shout out to Wade Zaggy! He asked for the presentation we use to recruit corporate members (okay, Laura really asked) and then shared it with one of his business clients. Today, we received a $500 donation from Camarda Wealth Advisory Group. This is a new donor for us and in 2024 we'll work towards making them a Corporate Member! Don't think it has to be a large amount of thousands of dollars, any amount is prescious to us. All amounts count! Question - are we still following up with families we have helped in the past to see how they are doing? I know a few even talked about paying forward to the Krewe when they got back on their feet. Would like to know who is thriving and doing well after we helped them or are they still in need of assistance. If we are, can the follow up be posted on the forum? This is great information to have when talking with potential sponsors and corporate members. Thanks!

There will be a social this Saturday, May 13th at Ann O'Malley's starting at 5:30 pm. This is a no garbed event! This weekend is the St. Augustine History Festival so we don't want to overshadow the Festival or the Historic Florida Militia with being in garb. On Saturday the Militia will be having their Encampment from 10:00 - 5:00 pm. Beginning at 7:00 p.m., the armies of Spain and England will fight for possession of St. Augustine in this reenactment of Sir Francis Drake’s raid in 1586. Boss Ladies Community International – Flagler County is a local women's group in Flagler County. They are hosting their 1st Annual Boss Ladies Cruise, April 18 – 22, 2024 on Royal Caribbean AND the Boss Ladies has chosen for their charity support the Krewe of the 13! Monies raised through this cruise, i.e., raffles, etc. will be donated to the Krewe. We are honored to be the recipient of this gracious support from the Boss Ladies! The Boss Ladies mission is to bridge connections among women professionals aiding in empowering them with the tools and resources needed to help them succeed while working with the community to support local non-profit agencies through financial resources. They hold monthly events with their members who are local business owners from Flagler County. I was invited to attend the April meeting as they announced the Krewe of the 13 was their selected charity to receive financial support the cruise would generate. There were about 120 women at the April meeting and a $1000+ was raised that evening and donated to SMART - Saving Missing Animals Response Team of Flagler County. The cruise line is Royal Caribbean, dates are April 18 – 22, 2024 departing from Port Canaveral with stops in Cococay Bahamas and Nassau. Attached is a poster about the cruise and the Cruise Reservation Form. If you are interested in going, please complete the form and return to either Mindy Bubar or Deanna Cisson. Their phone numbers and email addresses are on the 2nd page of the poster. So far, I think we have 5 ladies from the Krewe going. The overall response from the Boss Ladies has been overwhelming so if you plan to go, try to book soon! The backdrop on how this came about……One of the table sponsors from Casino Night, Florida Family Dentistry gave their 2 tickets to a neighbor since they were unable to attend, Ana Reyes-Ousts and her husband Henry. I met Ana previously at a Palm Coast Chamber meeting. She also does work for a local paper in Palm Coast, called Coastal Neighbors. Coastal Neighbors did an article about the Krewe in their March issue, so Ana was familiar with who the Krewe was. After hearing Amanda’s testimonial at Casino Night, she picked the Krewe of the 13 out of many charities the Boss Ladies could have chosen. And in addition to receiving monies raised during the cruise, we will also have exposure to a broader range of local business owners in Flagler County. This is a very exciting win-win for the Krewe! The Easter Parade is this weekend, Saturday April 8th. The parade starts at 9:00 am. We need to be in our designated place by 8:00 am. Roads will start shutting down around 8:00. This is a garbed event. Entries will be judged between 8:00 – 8:30 and judging is based on 3 categories - Best Easter Theme, Best Historical, and Best Overall. Our meeting location is D, on Dufferin Street, turn right at the Dunkin Donut (171 San Marco Ave) and next to Mahela Beauty Salon (2 Dufferin St) there should be an open area. Look for a green sign with the number #37. We are walking behind the Ancient City Jeepers so look for the jeeps! The Parade Marshalls will be in yellow shirts if you have any questions. Laura Dodson from the Social Committee will be your contact that morning. As with all parades, no throwing any items as this can cause children to run out into the parade, please hand out your treasures. No offensive/hate messages, alcohol, or anything that would disrupt the parade. We would like to get an idea of how many members will be attending the parade. If you're looking for something to do this Saturday, please feel free to join me at the Palm Coast-Flagler Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Small Biz Expo, located at Central Park @ the Town Center in Palm Coast from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The mission of the Expo is to support and amplify small businesses in our local community. The Chamber has agreed the Krewe can attend as a non-profit organization. We're hoping this will give some face-to-face exposure for the Krewe and since it's the weekend before Casino Night we might be able to sell some tickets and/or receive some donations! We’re a little less than 2 weeks away from another evening of fun Casino Night. We’re doing pretty good on auction items and still need one more $500 table sponsor but more importantly we need to sell more tickets! We currently do not have any funds in the coffer to help any families in dire need. The last thing we want to do is turn people away that need our help. Here’s the breakdown of where we are in ticket sells: Eventbrite - 61 tickets Paper tickets sold – 22 Sponsor tickets (table sponsors) – 16 tickets If you have sold any paper tickets please either respond below or text me at 904-309-4008 or email cathy.greene@kreweofthe13.org Excluding the table sponsors we have only sold 83 tickets. Last year we had approx. 186 people in attendance. We need to get busy if we want to make any money on this fundraiser this year. In the next 12 days we need to sell 80 to 100 tickets. If people don’t attend the event, we don’t do well on auction items or drink sells. It’s critical we have at least 180 people in attendance. We need all Core Members and Core Swabbies to start reaching out to family, friends, neighbors, etc. to sell tickets. Start pushing the event through social media. Ask your hairdresser, gym instructor, doctor, anyone you talk to should include “do you want to buy a ticket to our fundraiser”! Remember, as Core Members we have the right to vote and we are all expected to participate in charity work of the Krewe, particularly fund raising. Did someone say Parades!!!! We are signed up for both the St. Patrick’s and Easter Parade. Details below: St. Patrick’s Parade – Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The parade starts at Frances Field, Orange Street in downtown St. Augustine. The Krewe will be meeting in front of or close to 61/63 Orange street at 9 am. If the location changes another forum post will go out. This is a garbed event, but kilts are welcomed. Here are the parade rules: NO throwing of booty, must be placed in hand NO political clothes, signs, banners... Once again, Tortuga is our section parade Marshall so be on your best behavior😊 Also, if giving booty out to the kids, consider saving booty for the last half also as kids at the beginning get bags full and the ones at the end get little. Afterwards plan to head over to Ann O’Malley’s to socialize for a bit! The Parade also coincides with the Celtic Festival Opening Day. Historic Facts: 1600 was the first recorded St. Patrick Celebration in America 1601 was the first recorded St. Patrick Parade in the World This all happened — not in Boston, not in New York, not even in Ireland — but here in St. Augustine, FL! Easter Parade – Saturday, April 8th, 2023. Kickoff is 9:00 am We have registered and are waiting for final instructions & locations. We do need to be in our designated place and fully set up by 8:00 am. This is a garbed event. Entries will be judged between 8:00 – 8:30 am against the theme of the parade: Easter! Mark your calendars for the Krewe's March social and 1st quarter business meeting on Saturday, March 4th starting at 5:30 at Cathy Greene's house, 21 Turtle Beach Dr, Palm Coast FL in the Beach Haven Community. The first hour of the meeting will be a Krewe business meeting; therefore non-Krewe members will not be able attend until 6:30 pm. Starting at 6:30 the social will begin with food and cocktails and others are welcome. Please plan to bring an appetizer or other food to share. Ticket sells are pacing pretty good with being 7 weeks away from the event. 68% of core members have purchased tickets. Total purchased through Eventbrite is 45, about 22% target for 200 tickets; however, our goal is to sell 225 tickets. The Save10 promo code has been extended until tomorrow, February 3rd so get your tickets before then! Poster and paper tickets hopefully will be in within the week. The printer had a small issue with the equipment but it's been fixed and printing is underway. I'll get those in your hands as soon as possible. You can still sell tickets, just keep track of who wants to buy them! We are still in need of sponsors and auction items! Attached is an updated Event Sponsor Level sheet. It shows the lowest amount, Patron at $250, then Table at $500 and so on. Hoping when people see the lower amounts that are more apt to donate. Call me if you have any questions. The Palm Coast Junior Chamber of Commerce, a 501c3 is hosting a Child Health Fair on Sunday, February 26th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Bunnell Elementary, 305 N. Palmetto Street, Bunnell FL 32137. Free services will be provided for physical exams, eye and ear exams, behavioral health, haircuts, etc. (see attached brochure). The Krewe of the 13 is a member of the Palm Coast-Flagler Chamber of Commerce so we have been invited to attend the fair to interact with the kids. If you have time to attend the event that would be great, the kids will love meeting some real pirates! Bring your coins and beads. Please let me know below if you can attend. Think we would stay for a couple of hours, then we can go out for lunch together nearby. Flagler Beach is about 15 minutes away. Some great restaurants on A1A. After the winter party at the Captain & Kathy's house and then a social at the pub, we thought we would mix it up a little bit. This was done a couple of years ago and was a well received, Axe throwing! We are thinking about going to Autobahn Indoor Speedway & Events on Friday, February 10th starting at 7:00 pm. Location is 6601 Executive Park Ct N, Jacksonville, FL 32216, about 40 minutes from O’Malley’s. The cost is $35.00 per person. They can accommodate up to 16 per axe throwing lane, and each lane has 2 targets. Before we reserve a spot, it would be helpful to get an idea of how many people are interested in attending. Please respond below if you are interested in Axe throwing on February 10th at 7:00 pm. If you are interested but the date doesn’t work, then give a date preference. Thank you, Social Committee

Casino Night is off to a great start! We have secured a Bar Sponsor – Rodie’s Place and 3 Table Sponsors. PLUS 29% of our Core members have purchased tickets. Huzzah!!!! Remember, even if you are not able to attend the event you can still purchase tickets. This is part of how Core members support the Krewe’s fundraising activities. The ticket special will continue through the end of January. When you purchase tickets, use Save10 in the Promo Code for your $10 off per ticket. FYI...all Core members should purchase a ticket(s). As I mentioned in my update at the social last Saturday, there are 3 things that makes a successful event – sponsors, auction items and ticket sales! The Krewe represents people from different walks of life, living in various communities and working in different areas. This allows us to spread a wide net across the 3 counties we support – Duval, St. Johns, and Flagler. The event may be in Palm Coast, but the monies raised will support these 3 counties. Families in dire need will need our help in 2023, so the Krewe’s treasure chest will need to be full! Event Sponsor Levels – provides the details around the various levels of sponsors. If you are talking with a small business, be sure to offer the lowest amount in the level. There is a wide range of levels so hopefully we can get some additional sponsors before the event! See attached form Sponsor Donation Form – if you have someone who wants to be a sponsor, please complete the Sponsor Donation form, and return to me. The sponsor can write a check payable to Krewe of the 13, Inc. Donations will receive a tax receipt. See attached Auction Item Form – auction items are a much-needed donation for the event! Most of the money raised comes from auction items and drink sales. An auction item can be various types of goods or services, i.e., gift certifications for hotels, food, etc.; baskets filled with goodies, jewelry, liquor, pirate gear, etc. When donating or receiving a donation please have the Auction Item form completed and returned with the item. This is needed to send a thank you note to the donor. Donations will receive a tax receipt. See attached Posters and tickets will be going to the printer within the next several days. Once we receive, I’ll work out arrangements to meet people to handout. Everyone loves the after the holiday sells! Well here you go, Casino Night tickets are now available through Eventbrite for a discounted donation. The nonrefundable event donation is $80 per ticket. But Wait!!! From now until the end of January the donation price is $70! That's a savings of $10 per ticket. Our goal is to sell 100 tickets by the end of January! Now that the holidays are coming to a close, it's time to start gearing up for Casino Night 2023! The date is set for March 25, 2023, at Palm Coast Community Center, located at 305 Palm Coast Parkway, NE, Palm Coast, FL 32137. The event will start at 5:30 and run through 9:30. Cutthroat Kathy has graciously passed over the torch as Chair to me, Cathy Greene aka Madam Executioner. I’m looking forward to having another successful year! Lori Romano aka Lucky 7 will be co-chair and Sarah Fall aka Sharpshooter Sarah will be on the project committee with Lori and me. Last year we made approx. $22,500. This was a great achievement but would love to see this increased by 10% to hit $25,000! But to do this we will need your help! There are 3 main components needed for success – sponsors, auction items, ticket sells. We have about ~50 Core Members. If each member sold 4 tickets, 2 for themselves and 2 to friends this would be ~ 200 sold tickets. This would put the event in the black before we sold the first drink or rolled the first dice! We plan on having Eventbrite open for tickets sales within the next 1 to 2 weeks. More details to follow.
